| Kutai National Park | |

The Kutai National Park is the best example of a tropical rain forest in Kalimantan, with 262 dipterocarp species and 83% of Borneo's tree species. Flora and fauna are still stressed from the 1982-83 drought and fires. Area: 198, 629 ha. |

This nature reserve has an area of 1.6 million ha. Sumatran rhinoceros are no longer present. |

| Pleihari Tanaut Laut Game Reserve | |

|
This national park protects the largest expanse of heath forest in Bornea as well as peat swamp forest. Noted for its population of 1,000 to 2,000 orang-utan and high densities of proboscis monkey. Area: 355,000 ha. An additional image is also available for the park. |
